Viper's Covenant
The Viper's Covenant exists on the edge, between the gloss and reality. We work against the systems that be, whether that means pushing back against the law or outright breaking it. Our work takes us everywhere, from the snowiest mountains to the most humid swamps. For those in need of our services, they know how to reach us. For those who don't know how to reach us, we always know how to reach them.
The Viper's Covenant is comprised of 'Adders' split into three distinct branches. Each branch is given relative autonomy and overseen by an appointed 'Cobra'. The Covenant itself is managed by The Viper, a mysterious and masked individual whose true identity remains unknown.

Viper's Covenant
Code of Conduct
1) Viper's Covenant is an 18+ Guild
Members are expected to demonstrate a basic level of decorum and maturity, and be mindful of our values of respect, loyalty, commitment, and integrity.Do not:
- Spam chat channels
- Swear excessively
- Primarily speak in meme/uwu/CAPS
- Interrupt or talk over others in voice
- Flirt with your guildiesKeep the mush to yourself and those who consent, IC or OOC. Excessive PDAs and flirting are not what we're about.2) Be kind, be respectful.
Should conflict arise, resolve it in DMs, or contact a Cobra or Viper if necessary.3) Do not share screenshots of DMs in public channels.
If you think a screenshot is needed to show evidence of mistreatment by another member, send them to a Cobra or Viper.4) Avoid trashtalking.
It's okay to tease and poke fun at other people, but don't let it become derogatory, hateful, or inflammatory. The Viper's Covenant is not a place for RL antagonists.5) Metagaming, powergaming, godemoting, and OOC bleed are not tolerated. Likewise, actions against a player character should be written as an attempt. What is metagaming? Metagaming is using OOC knowledge to an in-character advantage. For example: Your character is secretly a vampire. You have made OOC comments about your character being a vampire, be it memes or otherwise. Jimbo sees these comments, and later on in RP, makes a comment about your character being a vampire, despite having no way of knowing. This is a case of meta-gaming.What is powergaming? Powergaming basically boils down to your character being capable of things that they couldn't be. For example, Jimbo is back at it again. This time, Jimbo has revealed he actually owns a fleet of tanks, and will be bringing them along on the next mission. This effectively invalidates everyone else's characters. Shame on you, Jimbo. What is godemoting? Godemoting is when you write an emote which negatively (or in some cases, beneficially) impacts another player which they cannot counter, avoid, dodge, or otherwise prevent. As a writer, it's generally recommended to write actions towards another player as an attempt. What is OOC bleed? Let's face it: We all eventually care about our characters, and it's okay to. However, it becomes problematic when your IC interactions with another character change how you feel about the player behind the screen. Let's keep IC as IC, and OOC as OOC. They are not the same.6) Consent is vital.
Before inflicting long-lasting or permanent damage on another player's character, make sure you ask them for permission. Healthy communication is important. If a scene makes you uncomfortable, you can always fade out or opt out entirely. A Cobra or Viper can help resolve the situation if necessary.7) Any form of bigotry, sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, or anything else is not tolerated.
We want to foster a community supportive both of those who are LGBTQ+ as well as who aren't. If this needs more explanation, this guild may not be right for you.8) The guild, and all of its members, are not meant to be powerful.
We aren't unknown or powerless, but we aren't at the power or influence level of the Commander, either. We are at the lower end of the power scale, and about the same for influence.9) No real-world politics.
Generally, this brings out the worst in people. Sharing a meme relevant to current events is one thing, but this is not the place to engage in political discourse/debate. There are places outside of this server where that is appropriate.
Viper's Covenant
Lore
"In times of peace, the fat and wealthy sit upon their laurels like dragons guarding a hoard. Corruption's cancerous influence spreads throughout society. We seek to keep things balanced." - The ViperForged out of an intolerance for the wealthy, the corrupt, and the vile, the Viper's Covenant was made to lash out at anyone and everyone deemed a worthy target. On Sunday, it could be the Seraph. By Wednesday, it's the Inquest. Come Saturday, maybe it's the College of Statics. The Viper's Covenant seems to hold no pattern to their behavior, and yet always appear organized and structured.Perhaps they seek to inspire fear; to make the so strongly established societal organizations look over their shoulder. Perhaps they're in it for the money. No one seems to know for sure. What's more: No one seems to know The Viper's true identity. Or if they do... They aren't the talkative type.
The Covenant is formally established by the Viper and his three Cobras: Caoimhe, head of Diplomacy, Astheria Orvana, head of Security, and Fíonrós, head of Finances. As the Covenant grows, Caoimhe reveals her knowledge of an artifact called the Zetta Anchor, which allows for Mists travel. A subsequent series of investigations reveals the location of the Anchor in an Inquest Lab in the Steamspur Mountains. The Covenant is able to find the lab and, after a challenging fight with the krewe lead Zmirr, they obtain the Anchor. One of the Inquest members, a woman named Ralzi, defects to join the Covenant.
Only a few short weeks after the retrieval of the Anchor, the Covenant seems to be thriving. The Viper decides to hold a small celebratory gathering in the headquarter’s mess hall, but the Covenant finds the corpse of Ralzi strung up by her intestines over the fireplace. The members are questioned, but no answers come to light. A week or so later, the Covenant gets word of an asuran caravan attacked in Caledon, and they travel to the forest to see if the attacks are related. They meet a warden named Pilan, who seems to believe that Ralzi’s death is connected to a local Nightmare Court’s strange fixation on asura. The Covenant reluctantly agrees to work with Pilan, especially after the name of the Courtier responsible- Aodhan, a sylvari the Viper and Fíonrós are both familiar with- is revealed.
A few short weeks later, Warden Pilan and Zash scout a possible court ambush location: Pilan reveals himself as Aodhan, and captures Zash. It takes weeks to locate Aodhan’s court, during which Professor Koumi is also captured, and when the Covenant comes, they come bearing a revenge most bloody. Most of the court is killed, Zash and Koumi are rescued, and Aodhan is taken alive. It is during the first Covenant Court that Aodhan meets his most lethal fate: Execution.

Viper's Covenant
Branches
The Viper's Covenant is split into three distinct branches. Each branch is overseen by a Cobra, and every Adder belongs to one of the three branches. Belonging to a branch does not mean you can't engage in activities with other branches, this is only for organization.DIPLOMACY
Lead by: Caoimhe Spirea - Ambassador
Secrets are better left to the dead, but until then, our diplomats' eyes and ears rummage and pillage them. Through carefully crafted words, calculated actions, and well planned connections, the diplomats manipulate whoever falls within the Covenant's line of sight. The power of a diplomat lies not in the strength of their arm, but in the silver of their tongue and, perhaps, an occasional or coincidental disappearance. Our adversaries may cave our strength and steal our fortune, but they'll never fathom the ingenuity of our minds.
FINANCE
Lead by: Fíonrós - Financier
The Finance Branch, simply put, makes and spends the Covenant’s money. They are often the front-facing people of the organization. Here you will find the smugglers, the con artists, the treasure hunters, and the fences. The members of Finance might set up laundering operations to filter out dirty money, strike out to find valuable artifacts, or lend an already-existing, legal business to the cause.
SECURITY
Lead by: Astheria Orvana - Chief of Security
Between the keen eye of Finance and the silver tongue of Diplomacy lies the iron fist of the Branch of Security. The muscle, the munitions experts, and the mercenaries typically find their way here, especially those ill-befitting the other two branches. The Branch of Security is both the protective shield and pointed sword of the Covenant - the physical manifestation of the organization's fangs when subterfuge isn't an option and neither is retreat.
